Austin Gayle started playing soccer when he was five-years-old, as a way to strengthen his coordination. Soccer turned into a passion for him shortly thereafter. He started playing club soccer for the Northshore Arsenal at age 10 and moved to the Milwaukee Kickers the following year and remained with the Kickers from U11-U14. He switched to the Milwaukee Bavarian Soccer Club and played there U15-U17. He also played four years for Shorewood High School. He helped lead the Shorewood Greyhounds to a division 3 state championship and earned All-State honors his senior year. He finished his last season with 41 goals in 23 games, finishing 4th in goals scored and total points overall in the state.

“I’m looking forward to the transition to college at Lincoln Trail College,” says Gayle. “I’m excited to start working toward earning a college degree and I’m excited to help create excitement during the inaugural season of men’s soccer at LTC. I believe the team can and will make history this upcoming season.”

"I believe that Austin can be the big spark we need up top,” says Statesmen coach Shawn Hall. “He is 6-foot-1 and can score goals!! Very excited about the signing of this outright #9 (striker). He can hold the ball up and get his head on the ball. We know he can find the back of that net too!! This is a player we need our first year since we struggled with goals in the gurls side, the first year."
